~*~ Break Bad Habits ~*~
You Will Need:
* Black Candle [Cleansed]
* Anointing Oil [Blessed]
* Optional: 9' Cord
Take a black candle, which has been ritually cleansed, and some anointing oil, which has also been ritually blessed.
Do not use anything for this, which has not been cleansed or blessed already.
Depending on the desired result, you should choose an oil which corresponds to this end.
At the time of the new moon, or when it first begins to wane, cast a circle or use your 9' cord to create a sacred space.
Place the black candle (preferable a taper) on the altar with the oil.
Have no unblessed/uncleansed tools in this ritual.
Cast the circle. Call the Goddess and her consort. Use a burin to engrave the candle with the spell you wish to cast.
Now, anoint the candle using the oil. While you anoint the candle with the oil, speak these words out loud or silently:
"Tonight no moon, tomorrow the first one. Let this be eroded 'til my will be done. Candle burn down to remove all ill. Let this spell be cast by the power of my will."
And once you have anointed the candle, place it in a safe place to it can burn down completely

Re: brake it
Tue, October 2, 2007 - 8:02 AMpardon my newbie roots showing, but...
What's a "burin"?
Also, how would a solitary practitioner (no coven) get items like those described, cleansed & blessed?
Thanks so much. I appreciate very much what you've offered here!
Happy Blessings!

Re: brake it
Tue, October 2, 2007 - 9:09 PMObviously candles, oils and other things like flowers, incense and small curio items (which may later join your magickal box of mystery) can be found at a variety of shops (or settings in some case).
What might be a little less obvious, Fairylite, is that many solitary practitioners cleanse and bless their own items.
You are no less imbued with this ability then anyone else here but what you may be missing is a good grounding. Many traditions have good blessing and cleansing rites. Look around and once you feel you got a good platform challenge yourself to make your own.
You'll likely succeed. -

Re: brake it
Wed, October 3, 2007 - 10:28 AMThank you Spiedr for the help & explinations!
I'm working to get a good grounding lately. I haven't honestly been comfortable to do so in a long while. My husband's career hasn't been very stable for a while, so moving has been a big part of our lives--at least 5 different states, living in some 2x, all over the last 14 years we moved away from home & family. So grounding hasn't been "safe or possible" w/all that we've gone thru. Now that I know I'm in a stable place in both home & life, I have really worked to get centered & grounded w/the land beneath & the world around me. Like the country song "From my Front Porch Looking In," the part of the lyric "the only earth I've ever owned was sticking to my shoes." Maybe this isn't the best way to excuse myself, but it is how I feel my life has been. For once in our lives, we both feel at HOME.
At any rate, since asking about being a Solitary Practitioner, I went to the Library & found a couple of good books to help me further understand what I need to do. Granted, I also study Buddhism & consider myself one. It also fits in w/grounding w/in as w/out. I need & want to do so. The books I got were "Teen Witch" by Silver Ravenwolf & "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" by Scott Cunningham. My sister read "Teen Witch" and found it very helpful in explaining the basics. As for the one by Scott Cunningham, I have several of his books in my personal collection, so I trust what he writes.
I meditate more since my surgery the end of this past August, but mostly laying down because of the pain I faced before & now after. I'm going to be adding to my meditation good old fashioned "sits" & plan to add your suggestions, Spiedr, to my further practices.
Thank you & all the rest for all the insight on this post & others!
Blessings!
