would anyone be interested in this? this has always been one of my dreams! I would prefer to have a viking style village, with the fighting, meade and all the sorts.

I would prefer not to do the average commune setting, id like it to be a village like setting, where everyone owns their own parcel of land, and we all share community land, and we can barter/trade within the community. I was hoping maybe in the Oregon/Washington area. Please contact me if your interested.

wow! that would be really cool. It could even be self contained like in the old days. It could have a small store where people could bring in their extra supplies in trade for things they need (eggs, vegetables, hand made items...)

You could have a blacksmith, people could raise sheep and make yarn out of the wool
There could even be a bed and breakfast offering 'regular' people a short experience in the setting (providing clothing and have them help with tasks). It could let people know how awesome it is and maybe inspire them to move there or start their own community somewhere else. And more importantly, it would let people interested in it experience it then go back to their 'regular' lives (then daydream about living there full time while they're in their tiny office cubicle or stuck in traffic)
There could be some rental homes for people interested but not willing or able to make a home/land purchase.

You could have an open market day where outsiders are encouraged to come and purchase goods from the villagers and watch the fighting.

oh, I just found this site on clothing in the Viking Age www.hurstwic.org/history/a...othing.htm

If you ever do this, please let me know!
